3120 Work-Cell

The Model 3120 Work-Cell is an ideal workstation for semi-automatic assembly operations requiring automated fastening or part placement. An operator manually loads the workpiece into a dedicated work-holding fixture and initiates the cycle, after which a motor rotates the fixture/workpiece to present each assembly location with consistent, repeatable positioning—helping improve access, cycle consistency, and overall process quality.

To match the application, the 3120 can be configured with standard Dixon screwdriver heads or part placer heads. Screwdriving configurations can include pneumatic, DC electric, or servo motors, with available torque/angle and depth-control features depending on the driving requirements. For part placement, optional placer head configurations are available to suit component size, stroke, and force needs.

Fasteners or components are automatically presented using an appropriate feed system, with vibratory feeder bowl sized for the cycle rate and part being fed (with feeder bowl options available up to 533 mm). The 3120 is commonly supplied as a complete, integrated cell—driving head, feed system, rotary indexing fixture, machine base, guarding, and controls—making it a practical, production-ready platform for semi-automatic assembly.

Because the operator is manually placing and removing parts, safeguarding is selected to suit the process and can include items such as light curtains, mesh guard panels, and additional operator-protection features. Controls and usability options may include a touchscreen interface, coordinate programming, standard error messaging/troubleshooting functions, stack light indication, PLC control, and optional remote access—supporting day-to-day production operation and quick changeover where needed.
