Dixon offers both screwdriving and part placing end effecters with feed systems to be used with Cartesian, Scara, and six axis robots. Dixon's Model SD/AP-171 and SD/AP-185 heads incorporate torque and depth control with sensing capabilities. These features are essential for robotic applications. Dixon's driving and placing heads provide positive mechanical handling and control of a fastener, or piece part, throughout the entire escaping, transferring, and placement process. Primary advantages of a Dixon's robotic End Effecters are ease of tooling and programming for various assemblies.

Model SD/AP 171

Driving and placing heads are developed specifically for 6-axis robots. This model may also be used selectively on Cartesian robots. For parts that cannot be blow fed, the Model SD/AP-171 heads are equipped with Dixon's Trav-A-Track. The Trav-A-Track stores a predetermined number of fasteners in a short track that moves with the driving, or placing head.

Model SD/AP-185

Driving and placing heads are designed to drive, or place in narrow or recessed work areas that are normally inaccessible by any other means. These heads are compact and lightweight with effective strokes up to 8 inches (203 mm) beyond the loading mechanism. The model SD/AP-185 is blow fed by a flexible feed tube from the feed system. Feed systems include vibratory feed systems, supply hoppers, and controls. Model SD/AP-185 driving and placing heads are designed for Cartesian and Scara robots.
